First-half goals lift Tynny

ST ATHAN 0
VALE Soccer League side Tynewydd went into this First Division fixture looking to build on the back of their last two performances, even though they may not have got the results those performances warranted.
So it was pleasing that they started the game the better, playing some neat football. Midway through the half a long cross-cum-shot shot was fumbled by the St Athan 'keeper and Mark McCarthy was quickest to react, turning in from close range. Barely five minutes later and a quickly cleared corner and some tidy passing resulted in Ross Smith breaking through to slide the ball into an empty net.
After a "lively animated" half-time team talk from the 'gaffer,' Tynny started the second half poorly, giving away needless free kicks and failing to capitalise on the possession and numerous chances, even missing gilt edged open goals. Tynny never hit the heights of the first half and were pretty lacklustre even though they held on comfortably.
Man of the match went to debutant Shannon Horrigan at right back for solid display.
