Ross' rocket in league draw

CADOXTON BARRY 3
FIRST DivisionTynny made the short trip to Bryn-yr-Don for their final Vale Soccer League night match of 2013 and, despite missing a host of players, enjoyed the better of the opening stages.
Lewis Union gave Tynny the lead, after Lloyd Union had dragged a defender wide to create space, and, not long after, they grabbed a second when some neat play between Brandon and Dale gave Ross the chance to unleash a rocket from 25-plus yards.
Tynny seemed comfortable, restricting Cadoxton to only half chances, but right on half time they conceded a goal when goalkeeper Dan pulled off a great save only for the ball to drop straight to a home player. This gave CB momentum and, early in the second half, they got an equaliser.
Still creating chances, Tynny were unlucky when Lewis' outrageous chip from 30 yards clipped the bar and bounced out but it was CB who took the lead after beating the offside trap.
Tynny, however, piled on the pressure and, just minutes before the end, a long range Nick Haincock free kick was fumbled by the 'keeper and Ross Smith had the easiest of finishes from a close range.
A draw was probably a fair a result, with both teams producing some good stuff in patches in a well fought game.
Tynny man of the match went to solid right back Brandon Jarmain Shepherd.
Tynny: D Melrose, B Jarmain, N Haincock, J Shepherd, J Clissett, D Miller, M Hesp, A Colburn, Ll Union, R Smith, L Union (c), G Union, L Peterson and G Pycroft.
