Jenner Park pupils enjoy tournament
FOR the New Directions football tournament, we arrived in the morning, full of confidence and walked into the House of Sport and saw Craig Bellamy. In the first match we didn’t play as well as we could have and lost it against Windsor Clive 3-0 as we were not concentrating.
In the second match we played a lot better and Mikey took a corner which landed on Jaydon’s head then hit the back of the net.
Radnor equalised with a good goal, but then their keeper kicked it out of his hands (not allowed!) which set up their winning goal.
We then watched 4 matches and cooled down a bit too much – in the next match we lost 3-1 to Blaenavon, but again played a lot better and felt our confidence and quality growing all the time.
We were really up for the last game against Caegarw (the group leaders), but missed a few chances and lost 2-0, although we were very proud to have competed so well against such a strong team.
That was the end of the tournament for us, but we then played a long friendly rematch against Windsor Clive, losing just 1-0 and showing how we were improving all the time. We had an absolutely great day and were all really proud to represent the school.
