Vale teenager Wesley Burns makes first team debut for Bristol City

VALE footballer Wesley Burns made his first team debut for Bristol City on the weekend.

Academy product Wesley, 18, came off the bench as his team lost 4-0 against promotion hopefuls Leicester City on Saturday (January 12).

Former Ysgol Bro Morgannwg pupil Wesley was recently rewarded with his first professional contract at the club, after impressing during a two year scholarship.

Wesley, from St Athan, will now be hoping that he can kick on and get more first team matches under his belt before the end of the season.

Proud dad David said: "He made his professional debut against Leicester after being on the bench against Blackburn the week before."

After the match Bristol City manager Derek McInnes was sacked, with the club lying bottom of the Championship table.
