Cadoxton Barry 3rds beat table-topping Wenvoe Arms

CADOXTON BARRY 6 WENVOE ARMS 3

TABLE-TOPPING Wenvoe Arms were brought down to earth as, on a muddy Bryn-y-Don pitch, unbeaten Cadoxton Barry tore into them from the start of this Second Division clash.

Three well-executed goals, all resulting from patient build-ups, saw CB looking comfortable before the Arms opened their account. But, although the visitors displayed some plucky resistance, three times reducing the deficit, there was never any danger of a shock comeback as CB replied with immediate goals of their own on each occasion that the lads from Ely scored.

The goal of the game came when one of the taller men on the pitch, Jack Butler, whipped in a perfectly measured cross from the right towards the far post where lurked one of the shorter men on the pitch, veteran Mike Bobbett. And his blistering header left the Arms 'keeper with no chance.

It was good to see teenager Ryan Abbot making the scoresheet when he finished off a neat passing move that had started deep in defensive territory.

This win not only saw Wenvoe Arms suffer only their second defeat of the season, leaving CB as the only unbeaten side in the division, but also reduces their lead to two points while CB have two games in hand.

CB goalscorers - Bobbett and Wells (two each), Coles and Abbot.
