Saints return to action with 9-3 win
7:40am Thursday 17th January 2013 in Sport
HOPING to get back to winning ways, Barry Saints returned to action with an away trip to Channel View on Sunday.
Manager Long's decision to start with a 4-2-3-1 formation looked like the right choice as the Saints overwhelmed the home side with attack after attack and were rewarded when a stunning 35-yard lob from Zack beat the 'keeper.
Building on this great start, Saints controlled the game and soon made it two with a fine shot from Joey. However, the back four went to sleep and the home side got one back.
But this only made the manager turn up the heat and get the side going from the sidelines. At the break, Saints led 3-1 and the second half started just as quickly as Joey pounced on a through ball to slot home another.
Shane then got on the scoresheet with a well worked bit of play, Cummings setting him up. Joint man of the match Evo was running the game from the middle and didn't lose a ball all game and soon set up Joey for his fourth goal. Zack got his second, with Cummings finally breaking his duck with an excellent ball crossed in from the left to bang home a stunner.
Joss took on the home side's defence to finally put the ball in the top corner. Joint man of the match Joey grabbed his fourth as Saints ran out 9-3 winners. Manager Long would like to thank all the team for their hard work and commitment.
