Champion Mills in victorious return to the ring

IN HIS first contest since a near fatal accident, current Welsh junior champion Louis Mills was in fine form while representing the Rhoose Amateur Boxing Club at a show at the West End Club, Ely.

Facing a tough opponent in Kalim Miles (Aberaman), the Rhoose Point boxer appeared sharp in the opening exchanges and looked to finish off his opponent with clean shots to the head and body. It was all credit to Miles that, although not managing to win a round, he went the distance, but Mills' skills proved vital in a points win.

Next up for Rhoose was 17-year-old Ashley Holloway who faced an old adversary in Dave White (Highfields). In another outstanding contest, Holloway looked strong and, having too much skill for the Cardiff boy, became Rhoose's second winner of the evening.

The last of the Rhoose boxers on the bill was 21-year-old Sam Thomas who is hoping to rekindle his career after a six-year lay-off. Against A James (Highfields), Thomas did himself justice and, keeping a cool head and using the ring well, he outboxed a strong opponent to win every round and complete a hat-trick of victories for his club.
