TWO-GOAL ROWE: Man of the match Josh Rowe provided two goals and an assist for Rhoose Rovers in their biggest win of the season.
PENARTH TOWN B 0 RHOOSE ROVERS 4
WITH Josh Rowe starring with a brace of goals, Rhoose Rovers FC recorded their biggest victory of the season in defeating Penarth Town B in a Vale of Glamorgan Soccer League Second Division clash at Cwrt y Vil.
After a shaky start, which required some high quality defending from the likes of Price and Dixon, Rhoose began to look more threatening and, within the first 15 minutes, scored the opener. O’Toole whipped in a corner kick for Rowe to chest down and slot in the far corner. The ever influential Chris Vinson showed why he is such a massive part of the team with a series of surging runs through the opposition midfield, one of which produced a driven cross into the six-yard box for goal machine Drew Barrett to finish.
After the half time interval, words of wisdom from the manager brought calmness and control to the Rovers’ play. Despite the rare occasion of panic defending, the visitors never looked like conceding and the match was put beyond all doubt when Rowe was put through on goal and showed a lot of composure to send the keeper the wrong way and put the score at 3-0. Some inspired substitutions from manager Dave Walsh helped Rovers extend their lead even further and preserve their clean sheet which will please goalkeeper Jake Birkenhead. Rowe showed great vision to send the ball into the path of Baker to slot home his first goal of the season and ensure that the visitors went home celebrating in style.
