EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of December 31, 1959: *Christmas Day was the wettest in the Barry area for nine years, a meteorological spokesman at Rhoose Airport said yesterday.

*Assurances that Barry’s water supply and the status of its engineer and staff would be safeguarded in the transfer of the undertaking to the Cardiff City Corporation were given at Tuesday’s meeting of the Barry Town Council.

*The nativity play, The Saviour is Born written b y Mr D J P Richards and performed so creditably by pupils of Cadoxton Secondary Boys’ School, resulted in a collection of £3 4s for the World Refugee Year local fund.
