EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of July 2, 1959: *All is harmony once again between Barry Town AFC and its supporters. At the annual meeting of the Barry Town Supporters' Club on Thursday, it was reported that a record sum had been donated to the football club during the past season.
*There is good news this week for dock workers in Barry, who have been having a thin time in recent years owing to the heavy decline in the coal shipments. Geest Industries Limited, the well known banana importers whose main port of discharge is at Preston, Lancashire, have announced that "following a satisfactory trial period it has been decided to make Barry one of the permanent ports for the importation of their banana traffic."
*Geoff Beckingham, three times capped Welsh Internaional hooker, will captain Barry Rugby Club 1st XV for the coming season. He succeeds wing forward Gerry Lamb.
