EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of June 25, 1959: *Married women at work who left their children to roam the streets until they came home, came in for censure at a meeting of the Barry Trades Union Council on Wednesday week.

*Cardiff City manager Bill Jones and Barry internationals Derek Tapscott and Dai Ward visited the Sea View Labour Club on Thursday to present trophies won by the club last season.

*Two members of Barry Ladies Bowling Club, Mrs G Collins, president of the Glamorgan County Women's Bowling Association, and Mrs S Baylis, have been selected for the international to be played at Bangor, Northern Ireland.

EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of June 21, 1983: *Just 18 months - that's how long the people of Barry have to wait before they see the town's historic docks offices restored to their former glory and back in business.

*Plans to provide extra surface car parking behind Barry's Town Hall on the site of the old housing building have been blocked by Vale councillors.

*Comedian Bernie Winters has presented a £100 voucher to Aileen Johnson, winner of the "Guess the Weight" competition run jointly by the Barry & District News and Cavendish Woodhouse, who opened their new furniture store in Holton Road, Barry, on Friday.
