*Are the religious records played from King Square on Saturday afternoon too noisy? This controversial question raised its head again at a meeting of the Parliamentary and General Purposes Committee on Thursday.

*Barry Men's Skittles League had their revenge for a recent beating inflicted by the Ladies' Skittles League when the two teams met in the return match at the Sea View Labour Club's alley on Thursday evening. The men had a winning margin of 25 in an entertaining game played in a very sporting manner. There is now likely to be a decider.

EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of April 19, 1984: *Next month could see scores of visitors from across the Bristol Channel mingling nightly with the crowds on Barry Island.
