News of May 6, 1965:

The Barry Easter Festival, held at St Mary's Church, continued on Tuesday last week with a recital by the famous Neaman-Isepp-Wolf Ensemble. The evening of music was one of the outstanding occasions of the festival.

If Barry Town Council decide to go ahead with their plans for one-way traffic in Holton Road despite the objections which have been raised, then the Barry and District Chamber of Trade and Commerce will protest to the Minister of Transport and ask him to reject the proposals.

On Thursday a very successful exhibition of flower arrangements together with a coffee morning was held at the St Nicholas Church Hall, Barry, by the members of the Barry Floral Decoration Society.

For the decreasing number of unemployed in the town, the routine of a twice weekly walk down to the employment exchange to collect their "dole" money will be disrupted by the introduction of an experimental scheme by which they will receive their payments by post.

Barry Town ended a remarkable season by winning their final game at Jenner Park on Friday against Hillingdon Borough and afterwards celebrated the fact that they had avoided the indignity of having to apply for re-election to the Southern League for the third time running.

Wenvoe finished the season on Friday with an unbeaten record, having played 24 matches and scoring 171 goals for with only 26 against.

On Friday week, the "Barrian Singers" took part in a programme at Windsor Road Congregational Church Hall, in aid of the building fund. Their singing very much impressed a large audience, and the thanks of the church was expressed to the singers and artistes by the minister.

A depleted Barry side, without a number of first-team players, was held to a tame draw by Briton Ferry in the last game of the season at the Reservoir Field on Saturday.

Victories for both 1st and 2nd XI's over the weekend show Barry Centurions to be in good tune for the forthcoming season.
