* Beverley Hudson, 14, of Amherst Crescent was elected the Barry Island YPA May Queen on Thursday week. The two ladies-in-waiting chosen were Wendy Rowles, 12, and Heather Aldread, 14. All three girls have been members of the Youth Club for a number years.

* Once again the number of unemployed in Barry has dropped, thanks to increased activity in the building and ship repairing industries. The total number of unemployed in the town on April 8 was 815, a fall of 165 on the figures for the previous month.
