EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of January 10, 1963:

* Although the worst of the snow has nearly gone, the reckoning is still to come. The cost of the council's snow clearing operations is likely to be reflected in next year's rates, and many householders are faced with repair bills for broken guttering and ceilings damaged by snow which seeped through under the rafters.
* Ken Dolman, the Barry left-half who has refused to play for the club, has been reported to the Welsh FA. At a meeting of the Town's board of directors on Tuesday Dolman was officially suspended.

* An open invitation to the people of Barry to have their say in the vital reshaping of the town's main shopping centre is almost certain to go out in the next few weeks.
* A first-class letter landed on the doormat of Barry postman Paul Cannon last month. It brought the news that he had won first prize in a sports competition run by a national store.
* Barry-born Gareth John Jarvis Neale was awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours List for political and public service.
