EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of May 12, 1960: * Street parties were the vogue on Friday when Barry people showed their approval of the Royal Wedding of Princess Margaret to Mr Anthony Armstrong-Jones by banding together and giving their children - and themselves a really good time. Llewellyn Street, Cadoxton, a veteran of such parties, was gaily decorated with flags and streamers.

EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of May 5, 1960: * Twenty-one-year-old Roger Cornwall, who left London today en route for Spain where he will represent Britain at roller skating, was given a civic send-off on Monday. The only Welshman in the party of eight, he is a member of Barry Roller Skating Club, Britain is competing in the World Cup Series to be held in Madrid.

EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of April 28, 1960: * The most up-to-date jazz club in South Wales, "77 Sunset Club," overlooking the Knap Swimming Pool, opened in grand style on Tuesday. Two hundred and fifty, mostly teenagers, jived their way to the accompaniment of the Dill Jones Trio.

Mr C Fulgoni, director of the New Merrie Friars at Barry Island, said although trade on Sunday was disappointing, Easter Monday brought the crowds out.
