Sorry sight
8:40am Thursday 20th September 2012 in Letters
TO my dismay, last Sunday afternoon whilst walking my dog, awaiting me was a disgraceful scene of six children within the range of six-eight years old, rifling through filthy garbage which had been put out for the local refuse collection. These poor young children were saying “look what I have found “, and ripping the disgusting refuse bags as if they were opening Christmas gifts. It was like something from medieval times.
It was extremely upsetting and very annoying for me to witness in this day and age. The government has a lot to answer for. Action needs to be taken to ensure children and young teenagers alike have the correct facilities, education, health and social opportunities to overcome appalling situations such as this.
No doubt the Vale Council will advise for refuse sacks to be put out in the early morning for collection. The fact is that most individuals put out the refuse the night before, hence having an extra hour or two before waking up for a hectic day’s work.
Maybe the council should issue every household with a wheelie bin, in the hope this may be one deterrent of this sad, deprived behaviour occurring again.
I do hope the local authority will take this letter seriously and take further action to prevent this disgraceful behaviour happening again.
