Get festive

THE Parish of Cadoxton-Juxta-Barry is holding its first Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary’s Church, Holton Road, Barry.

We are looking for local community groups, individuals, local businesses, churches or schools to display a Christmas tree of their own design in The Church of Saint Mary the Blessed Virgin, Barry, during the festival.

The trees will then be judged by the Vale and Town Mayors on December 12 and the tree that is thought to be the most original will be presented with a certificate, and notification of the winner will be put in the local papers.

The tree festival takes place on December 13, 14 and 15, when the church will be open during the hours of 10am and 6pm for visitors to come and look at the various trees on display. There will also be refreshments available to all during their visit.

Many artists will be visiting St Mary’s during this festival and many types of music will be there for all to enjoy whilst viewing the Christmas trees. Among the wide variety of music it is hoped to have local children singing, local brass bands, choirs and organ playing.

A programme will be available nearer the time to enable all to understand the meanings and reasons for the many trees displayed; it will also list the musicians playing during this three day festival.

If you would like to display a tree or need further information contact me (Susan Borges, rector’s warden) at St Mary’s Church on 01446 747928.
