Just repair our roads

I HAVE read Dennis Harkus’ and Cllr Neil Moore’s letters over the past few weeks regarding highway maintenance (Barry & District News, August 23 and 30).

I would like to point out that the Vale of Glamorgan Council road maintenance department has achieved a 100 per cent record - in that everybody who drives, when they take their car out onto the public roads, will drive over a pothole or into it, or over a rough road surface.

Why? We all pay road tax and council tax, and it seems we all have to pay for damage to our vehicles due to the state of the road surfaces – and in some cases a dangerous state for motorcyclists and cyclists.

Please could the councillors and maintenance department tell us drivers/riders why the roads are in such a poor condition.

Also what is your timescale to repair them? You have the money.

So let’s see if you can drop this percentage of pothole drive-overs on the main roads and side roads over the next 12 months.
