All welcome to join us at school as deputy head set to retire

NOW AND THEN: Hywel Owen ….38 years in the school. NOW AND THEN: Hywel Owen ….38 years in the school.

HYWEL Owen, deputy head at St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School - the only faith secondary school in the Vale of Glamorgan - will be retiring at the end of this year. He has taught for a staggering 38 years at the school and he looks forward to meeting as many former pupils as possible at St Richard Gwyn’s jubilee celebration in October.

Mr Owen said he knew it was time to hang up his board rubber when a pupil arrived at the school and said 'you taught my grandmother sir!'

All are welcome at the school for Mass and a fun-filled afternoon with past staff and pupils on October 20.

Past pupils and staff are asked to email the school on info@strichardgwyn.co.uk for an invitation to the Mass.

The school would also like any information or pictures about those who were at St RIchard Gwyn in the early years (1987-92) – when Mr Owen was head of English and sported a very dashing beard!
