I HAVE been made aware of the fly-tipping problem in the Treharne area in Barry and would like to inform your readers that I am working with the Vale of Glamorgan Council to resolve it.
The particular problem is around the flats in Edward Street and Meirion Close, which the council is working on to put a stop to this problem.
I have been in touch with the Housing Department who have informed me they will be taking a new tough approach in terms of enforcement and providing better information to residents about when they should put their waste out.
In the meantime, I have asked for full involvement in this matter and for an amnesty skip to be provided to give the area a chance for a fresh start and will be carrying out regular inspections of the area with council officers.
Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Cllr Richard Bertin
