I NOTE that the Cardiff Capital Region deal has now been signed off by leaders of the 10 councils involved.

I see that this deal will certainly be of great benefit to Cardiff with the South Wales Metro transport system coming a step closer.

What concerns me is the Vale Council leader has put his signature to this. Does he know what the Vale is getting out of this deal?

I note that the Vale council are having to borrow in excess of some £10 million as part of their contribution.

Who is paying this money back?

Is it us residents of the Vale being lumbered with this debt, or are the Vale councillors repaying it?

I feel that the Vale council should have put this to the people to decide.

Where are all these jobs coming from? It seems to me that Cardiff will be getting the cake and the rest will get the crumbs.

Without specific details of what the Vale is getting from this deal, the council leader should not have signed this.

We here in Barry have no leisure facilities. If you want the cinema, bowling, skating, you have to travel to Cardiff.

How on Earth can the Vale council borrow this money when we are faced with cuts to jobs and services, our lighting being turned off at midnight, charges for our waste recycle bags and council tax increases year on year?

Unless the council can come up with solid details of what the Vale is getting I feel the good people of the Vale are going to get stung.
