JANE Hutt’s flyers for her Castleland meeting on Monday February 13, called the incinerator by the company description ‘Barry Energy Production Facility’.
Natural Resources Wales call it an “energy generation facility” despite knowing that most of the energy (75 to 80 per cent) is wasted as heat to the air. At the meeting they called it a “gasification” plant, though that is just the incineration-technology to be used.
The official notice had to describe it properly under “incineration of waste”.
NRW placed this notice on their website just prior to Christmas and took it down on January 3, though they admit they are still open to public representations and still await responses from the health authority among others.
This doesn’t inspire trust in the NRW’s decision process.
