SHAME on you Barry Council for the unnecessary destruction of a cluster of perfectly healthy mature conifer trees to the entrance of Barry cemetery, just because they were in the way of the view of the chapel.

The idea is that once the gardens have been finished the chapel will be more visible from outside the cemetery.

At the meeting of cemetery approach, I was informed that these trees and some others would be removed because I quote: “They don’t look very nice.”

This amounts to wanton environmental damage and the cost to remove them inevitably ends up on our council tax bills again.

To cut down healthy, mature trees simply to attain a certain visual aspect is a heinous act and yet another impact on the already struggling wildlife and the struggling people who foot the bill.
