I BELIEVE it has been a huge year for Barry, and I would like to reflect on the big moments during 2016.

To kick off the year we had the brave New Year’s Day swim at Barry Island.

Rather them than me but it’s all for a good cause.

In the spring, we had an amazing Vale Jazz Festival, a new log flume is built in Barry Island Pleasure Park and amazing food is cooked deliciously as Hangfire opens on the Waterfront.

During the lovely warm summer experienced at ‘Barrybados’ we saw Lee and Andrew Selby putting the town on the world map with their boxing wins, Cadstock rocking Victoria Park, the amazing GlastonBarry which rocked the town and Barry boy Derek the Weather officially calls Barry ‘Barrybados’ on TV.

The autumn months were soon upon us but there was still plenty to see and do in the town. The ‘Barry eye’ was launched and then forced to change name even though if it was never officially called the ‘Barry eye’.

Ice Central was hailed as a success but hopefully on longer next year and to end the year. The Barry round table Santa sleigh does the rounds of Barry. I am really proud to be a Barrian in such a fab town and I hope that Barry will be even greater in 2017.
