IS THERE no end to the damage that the Vale’s cabinet member for economic development attempts when it comes to Barry?
Cllr Lis Burnett’s bizarre comments that chip shops and other takeaways should stop selling food and soft drinks to holiday makers on the Island must surely be the crowning glory of her disastrous role. She is paid £35,000 to build up the economy of the Vale.
It might be an interesting exercise to list her and indeed Labour’s shameful record of failure over the last four years. However it would be a very miserable read.
For a start what happened to the waterfront college? The cinema? Warners on Nells Point?
Barry missed a huge opportunity when it ignored Plaid’s suggestion that a fanzone should be created at Kings Square during the Euro matches. Well done to the local organisations who stepped up to the mark.
The really big one is the unacceptable delays over the second road to the Island. How many opportunities and jobs have the incompetence of the Labour leadership cost the town.
Plaid is committed to the town. Unfortunately the Labour councillors have done too little too late.
They concentrated on vanity schemes like the Culverhouse to Barry bus and cycle lane and forgot Barry’s roads are crumbling.
