I WAS shocked to see disgusting pictures of rubbish strewn across Barry Island beach on one of the hottest days.
I am pleased to hear that the Vale of Glamorgan Council are now going to take a strong stance over this, but we also need to ask what about collective responsibility?
We now need everyone to start thinking before just dumping their rubbish on the floor. We need everyone to understand how important it is to respect their fellow citizens and help keep Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan tidy.
If not we may not see visitors here again spending their money here or even tell friends and family not to visit the area again which would be a crying shame for all.
Finally, how about reintroducing paying deposits for returned bottles? We need to restore pride again.
