I HAVE taken photos showing residents in an area who clearly recycle and have wheelie bins, as opposed to someone who regularly puts out 10 black bags fortnightly (which the council are happy to collect) and not a recycle bin in sight.
Maybe it’s about time the council sent a representative around the evening before, as a lot of people seem to think its acceptable to put the refuse out 5pm the day before.
They should limit the amount of black bags they will collect from each household, as this does not encourage recycling, as seen in the picture most of what is scattered could and should have been recycled.
I appreciate the council saying “they need to educate people” but how they go about it I am not sure. Maybe the odd fine should be produced for leaving rubbish out the day before/and inspectors visiting and seeing for themselves. I was talking recently to people who have lived in Barry all their lives and they said they were fed up with it as well.
