SEVERAL months ago a minister at the Welsh government, Leighton Andrews, who was then the minister for councils, was planning to reduce the number of councils in Wales from 22 to about eight or nine.

It was proposed that the Vale Council would probably share with Cardiff Council. Now I am not a fan of Cardiff council as I feel they are as inept as the Vale council but the point being the leader of the Vale Council remonstrated that he felt the Vale Council should remain independent.

So the leader of the Vale raised the point of independence but when it comes to other organisations who wish to be and stay independent the Vale council walks all over the people.

Take for example the schools at Cadoxton. The council has now decided that Cadoxton Nursery School and Cadoxton Primary School, despite hundreds of objections, are to merge come September much to the shock and anger of the parents and school governors.

One campaigner stated that their objections fell on deaf ears, I think that just about sums up the local authority.

These parents need to remember that the Vale leader Neil Moore’s voters are the Cadoc ward so they need to remember this come election time and will need to kick him and the other councillors in that ward out.
