A FEW days ago I was walking along the causeway when a couple of cyclists passed me and I noticed that when they reached the end of the cycle path that they had to cross the road.

The path across the footbridge over the car park is too narrow to cycle along, a lady pushing a pushchair with a youngster holding her hand took up most of it.

I can’t see many cyclists using this cycle path when they find out that they have to cross the causeway with the amount of traffic that’s going to and coming from the Island. The path is too narrow over the bridge to stay on that side of the road.

All I can say about the path across the causeway is “what a load of bollards”.

I understand that the contractors have stopped working on the causeway cycle path and have started working on the cycle path at the top road near Wenvoe? Why?

I also noticed that our planners have now decided to remake Broad Street into Narrow Street.

I came along there the other day and two buses blocked the traffic coming from Barry Dock, one of the buses was at the new stop, another bus that was behind was dropping off passengers, not at the stop because it was full but on the pavement before it got there, another bus was on the opposite side of the road travelling towards the town, either picking up or dropping off passengers at that stop, the road was at that time very congested.

Who makes the decisions as to where bus stops which protrude out into the road are placed and also where roads are turning into bus lanes and opened. Is it our councillors or its officers?

I have been told that a hotel group has applied for planning permission to build on Nells Point on the car parking space there. What has happened to 1.17 acres that in June 1931 was conveyed by the Plymouth Estates Ltd for use as a car park?

If this is correct where do the council intend opening another car park for the traffic coming to the Island? There is very little car parking space available now.
