THIS year, the Kidney Wales Walk for Life is especially poignant as it is the 10-year anniversary of the death of John “Hot John” Taylor.

In 2004 my son, Richard Taylor, had died tragically young. However, he donated his organs and helped six people live or improve their lives.

As Kidney Wales were instrumental in setting up the Organ Donor Register, my husband, John, and I decided we would continue to support Kidney Wales and proceeded to join the Walk for Life each year.

Even though we had organised the event, 10 years ago, on 19 March 2006, we were unable to take part as my husband, John, died of a heart attack that morning just before the Kidney Wales Walk for Life began. The family bravely carried it on nonetheless.

Once again, registration will begin at 11am when T-shirts and a certificate will be issued.

We ask that you bring any sponsor money with you so that it can be sent in ASAP or call 01446 744834 for sponsor forms. Please leave your name, telephone number, and address.

As usual, the two-mile route we use is from Morrisons car park, down Broad Street, along The Parade, under the railway tunnel to Romilly Park Road, past the triangles, down Park Avenue, up Broad Street and back to Morrisons.

I look forward to seeing you all on April 24.
