BARRY Island has had a face-lift

Pleasure Park no longer in ruins

Dripping with tears on rainy days.

The rainbow coloured beach huts

Look splendid under the February sun

With just innocuous clouds passing by.

In the summer vast crowds will gather here

Full of smiles, enjoying the atmosphere

Returning to the funfair, eating ice cream

And perhaps swimming in the Channel

Painted a Turner blue and silver today

A welcome respite from winter storms

So that Whitmore Bay wears its finest clothes

As I join dog walkers on the beach

Mingling with ghosts who still wander the shore

As they did so many years before.
