I STROLL in sumptuous Porthkerry Park

Stress evaporates like the morning dew

With the sun shining through a skeletal tree

As if a dazzling ball hanging on a branch

And a squirrel scurries high above.

The bids chirp and the grass is verdant

Yes, it’s truly beautiful here today

With noisy summer crowds now far away.

I contemplate whilst walking on

Wondering if God created this magic

For this scenic view has lifted my soul.

I tread over a miniature bridge

With the stream beneath rushing past

A reminder of recent storms

But now blue sky has replaced the grey

For it’s truly beautiful here today.

Porthkerry viaduct never ceases

To fill me with awe and I imagine

How hard Victorian workmen had to toil.

Then I’m greeted by Porthkerry beach

With pebbles which I wander over

Listening to the roar of the glistening sea.

I’m almost alone on the sun-kissed bay

And it’s truly beautiful here today.
