OVER the years the Vale Council have spent I don't know how much on projects that only seemed to last a short length of time before either being demolished, altered or finished with, for example King Square has had how many alterations done to it?

The fountains and ponds, built-up terraces and gardens all gone, pedestrian areas with block paving in Holton Road, now back to tarmac.

Bus pull-ins in Holton Road non-existent, but there is on for taxis which is seldom used. Barry Island with its mosaic, promenade arch and weather vane, they too have disappeared, the steam engine given by Mr Woodham that was on the promenade gardens has also gone, Glamorgan Heritage Railway steamed away after having millions spent on it.

How long will it be before the huts also disappear?

The best example of the council's planning is the bus lane near the Merrie Harriers, which bus drivers don't like using as they are blocked in by traffic going to Cardiff or Llandough waiting for the lights to change.

Wouldn't it have been better to spend the money used for the bus lane on buying the property in Murch Lane and widening the lane to allow traffic going to Penarth from Dinas Powys or for parents taking their children to St Cyres school to use it instead of having to use either Cross Common Road or Cog Road/Sully Road which was not built for the amount of traffic now using it.

After making the access through the lane wider, the property the Council bought could have then been put back on the market and sold.
