DEAR editir,

Reading the front page of the Barry & District News on November 5, I had to just check my calendar to check it wasn't April Fools day.

I have to say the comments from 'the council wants more of the same' gave me a good laugh.

The auditor general for Wales has done an appraisal of the Vale Council's work for 2014/2015 and has stated the council has performed well in various aspects.

I find this to be amazing, it's a pity this auditor didn't come and talk to the people of the Vale, I am sure that he would have got a very different story from the people.

This council has been an absolute disgrace in the way it has performed over the past few years.

It has steam-rolled its policy through without, in most cases, failing to connect with the people.

It has forced cuts on library services, then using volunteers to run these same services, it wants us residents to recycle our waste yet charges us for the pleasure of doing it, they have spent over £250,000 on a refurb of the council chamber while at the same time cutting back on street lighting, this council has spent over £200,000 on a fleet of cars while at the same time is considering charging us to park in our own town centre while the councillor adopting this fails to implement this in his own town for fear of losing his seat at the election, and of recent times this council, while pleading poverty, has set aside £100,000 of our money for refugees.

Neil Moore seems to be cock a hoop over this auditors comments, it's a pity he didn't get out and about a bit more.

When the council wants something money is no option, yet not the same for us. The council wants more of the same, I hope the people want to kick this lot out at the election.

D J Radford,

Coleridge Crescent,

Barry
