DEAR editor,

The council have let the people of Barry and the Vale down by allowing incinerator waste to be dumped in Barry Docks and more importantly allowing the building and commissioning of an incinerator on land close to residential buildings.

With the strong winds we are experiencing at present who knows where the dumped waste is being blown to.

It's great news about having wonderful beaches meeting EU standards here. Alas we now can look forward to pollution in the air.

My grandchildren are likely to attend the local schools during their education meaning they will be breathing in "local" air for the next 16 years of their life.

I want this air to be as clean as possible. This is why people in Barry want to stop the dumping of waste from the Cardiff incinerator on the docks in Barry. This is why some people in Barry do not want an incinerator commissioned on the Docks.

The council have let us down, the Assembly have let us down. This is why a campaign has started to raise funds to legally question this insult which will most probably affect the health of locals in the Barry area.

I urge not only people in Barry, but the Vale to support the campaign to stop the dumping of waste and stop the Docks incinerator being allowed to go ahead.

It's the people that need to act because the assembly and local council in this case, I fear, have lost direction showing little care for the health of the locals.

D Williams,

Morel Street,

Barry
