DEAR editor,
There are blue skies over Watch House Bay
It's full-tide on this October morn
With a ring of seaweed guarding
The pebbles of the quaint bay
As I rest on an amphitheatre of steps
Peering as the flooded arena below
With autumn sea slurping onto the shore
Lifeguard station not in use anymore
Boarded up just like the Watch House.
It's beautiful here but rather sad
As if it's remembering better days.
An owner throws a ball to her dog
In the verdant park opposite
Which leads to splendid Barry Lake.
The sun paints the sea dazzling gold
Before sullen skies finally take hold
But today the sky is an Ethiopian blue
With a refreshing, cool autumnal breeze
And just an elderly man gazes at the scene
With Barry Harbour walls surrounded by water
And seagulls screeching over skeletal boats
And if you ignore the odd beer bottle
It's a truly glorious place to be
Just watching the serene October sea.
