NO surprise there then. The Ash Plant earmarked for Barry Docks has finally been given the go ahead by the planning committee members, who probably don't even live here, despite so much opposition from those that do.
With all that toxic waste polluting the air, coupled with the unknown hazardous material of the 1990s that is buried in concrete in the number one dry dock, too dangerous to transport by road or rail and with great potential to leak into the water at any time is not a good prospect for the new watersports at the mole, not to mention the new development.
I know that I wouldn't want to live on the waterfront in those nice new houses.
Just along the road there's Dow Chemical Plant, a few miles up the coast is Aberthaw Power Station and within view across the channel is Hinkley Point Nuclear Power Station.
Yes, Barry is fast becoming the place to 'live, work and play' but should come with a government health warning with all these potential, environmental disaster zones on its doorstep.
