MYSELF and two of my colleagues had the pleasure of working at Ysgol Maes Dyfan for many years.

It was a fantastic school, and it never ceased to amaze me how dedicated the staff were, and the great sense of support that was received by the children.

My two friends and I witnessed the most beautiful sunrises from the classrooms that I have ever seen. Now, sadly the school has been closed and demolished.

However, the most beautiful aspect of the school grounds, just to the left of the entrance gate, was a stunning bonsai-shaped tree that was breathtaking.

I have during my life been to many places and seen many lovely trees but not one compared to the beauty of the one in the grounds of Ysgol Maes Dyfan.

Imagine my shock and horror when I was passing recently when I realised that this tree had been removed.

Trees are precious, and I think that it is a disgrace that this was allowed to happen.
