WHAT are the council thinking of trying to persuade Barry parents that the best education option for English-speaking Co-education is to agree to Option 4, a huge school where their children will be lost in the crowds.
Their chances of representing the school or being in the top 10 per cent limited and those with learning difficulties being overwhelmed by the sheer number of pupils. Whitchurch High School in Cardiff is smaller than this proposed school and is looking to downsize.
Parents please realise that this is NOT the option that those in education i.e. the teachers - want. No-one is disputing the idea of co-education, but it is the suggestion of one huge school that is the problem.
Use this opportunity to say NO to option 4. Option 3 will still give Barry co-educational English-speaking schools.
Also be aware that there is no guarantee that the funding for what is proposed in Option 4 will be available and once again the children of Barry will be the poor relations in the Vale.
You have the chance to voice your preference, please use it.
