Captain Ewart “Chappie” Roberts and the Home Guard
READER Mark Roberts has sent in a photograph of his late grandfather Captain Ewart “Chappie” Roberts and the Home Guard at Porthkerry.
The photograph is of the “A” Coy Fifth Glam (Barry) Btn Home Guard.
Later in the war he went on to possibly be an adjutant in Island Farm (where the prisoners escaped) and then Usk overseeing the detainment of Rudolph Hess.
