HOW deceitful and underhanded can the Vale Council and their representatives become following the rejection of their proposal with the merger of Bridgend, after all the past press highlighting many issues on such, together with the suggestion of a referendum for the ratepayers of the Vale to decide.

The decision to undertake such a merger had already been applied for and undertaken by the Vale apparently during November 2014 without any reference being made to the press or ratepayers of the Vale of Glamorgan, who were kept completely in the dark.

It was reported some weeks ago that a mini independent referendum was carried out with some 100 or so ratepayers and the majority vote was for a merger with Cardiff, which obviously was ignored due to the application already in place for Bridgend.

I would refer to councillor Neil Moore’s statement where he states “the interest of our residents have been our primary concern etc, etc, and how the needs of our residents can be best met”, how such an individual statement can be made one would question the relative lucrative loss of councillors with a merger with Cardiff .

The society in which we live in is of a democratic one and has always been where a majority rule, but in the case of the Vale it seems like “don’t do as we do but do as we tell you”.

It was most reassuring to know that the MfPA Mr Leighton Andrews AM has rejected the Vale merger plan with Bridgend for hopefully better options.
