I FIND it totally shocking to hear that dozens of ambulances have to wait outside the UHW in Cardiff with patients. Ambulances hogging outside our hospitals should not be the reality of today's NHS.

This must be deeply upsetting not just for the patients but also the hardworking crews who must be frustrated in having to wait whilst unable to answer emergency calls. They are missing their targets and all due to a lack of beds.

There may be a lot of winter pressures on our Welsh NHS but having ambulances forced to wait outside the UHW is just totally wrong. We now need an independent public investigation into these failings and get to root cause of the problems of a health service that is in crisis.

People have waited long enough for improvements yet day in/day out our Welsh NHS continues to let people down. I really feel sorry for all our ambulance staff who work hard yet have to take the blame for these failings.

It is all well and good for the Welsh Government to throw money at but clearly that is not the answer. We now need an urgent review of how the service operates and for it to be put right without delay.

We must no longer blame the dedicated staff for this crisis; instead the finger of blame must now be pointed at the Welsh Labour-led Welsh Government. We all must lobby these people for improvements. I was of the impression that Labour is supposed to be for the NHS but clearly this is not the case. It's now up to them to put it right and put an end to the Welsh NHS in crisis.
