THE people of the Vale should be given the opportunity to vote – either by email or through the local press.

I think they will find it is a no, no, no, to the merger with Bridgend. What can they offer us?

Compared to Cardiff who have the expertise and full ability to go forward. Look what they have done to the Cardiff Docks; they have made it into a gold mine, always plenty of people spending time and money. They have even made a little swimming pool and brought in sand for the children.

Cardiff has luxury hotels and is always busy, just think what they could do with Barry Island and the fairground, they would regenerate Barry.

Bridgend do not have their expertise. The Vale should think hard and realise we are paying their high wages and their pensions through the people of Barry and the Vale with rates, etc, and ask us what we want to do.

They are panicking because they realise their days are numbered. It is what Mr Haley said there are more of us working and spending time and money in Cardiff than in Bridgend, and it is only eight miles away compared to twice as far to Bridgend.

Listen to the people of Barry and vote no to a Bridgend merger.
