IF WE are to attract visitors back to Barry Island, beach huts and a new car park do not cut the mustard.
We need an iconic feature that is going to really attract people. Such as a tower of some 700-800 feet tall surmounted by a revolving restaurant and viewing gallery.
I've been to some of these overseas and they are such a draw with the views you get, truly breathtaking, all that's needed is a developer with the vision.
The Island councillor Stefan William thinks it is a good idea, everyone I've spoken to thinks it's good. Spoken to pilots at the Airport and they say it's not a problem. Plus it does not take a lot of space. Come on Vale Council do something daring.
