WHAT a load of twaddle again spouted out by Labour led Vale councillors Re the Barry Island Fairground allowed to decay by current owners.
It is clear that pot and kettle comes to mind here, you only have to look at the decay that this and previous councils are responsible for with the decay of the iconic but derelict toilet block at Barry Island over the last 45 years.
All previous administrations and the current council have been responsible for the decay in and around Barry and Barry Island.
Holton Road is a complete embarrassment to local people. We have a new development on the eastern promenade which may look good now but how long will it be before this also falls into disrepair.
The brand new Adizone complex on Paget Road cost about £260,000 to build and it is already overgrown in places with weeds and brambles.
They mention their deliverance of a New Road for Barry Island claiming that they were solely responsible for its arrival. This new road came about due to the pressure from Barry Island Residents pressure group supported By Ian Baily, myself, Alun Cairns MP, Barry First Group, Barry Voice, The Barry and District News and the local Plaid Cymru team.
The truth is that Labour does very little except waste money on crazy ideas like the refurbishment of the Council Chambers at £250,000 when the town is falling apart at the seams.
They claim credit for the refurbishment of Maslin Park when it was actually brought about by pressure from myself, the local Plaid team, Barry First Group and Barry Island residents which embarrassed the council into action.
They say the delay to the opening of the regenerated eastern promenade was due to severe weather conditions in Jan/Feb 2014 well that is also untrue. We had four to five odd days of gales and high tides at which time the council claimed there was only a minimal loss of mortar due to the adverse weather conditions but now they are blaming it all on severe weather. Apart from those five days, we have had the best weather for over 40 years.
I just can’t believe where we get most of these Labour councillors from as some of them seem to be complete strangers to common sense and the truth.
