I REALLY hope that something can be delivered for leisure purposes on the former Pleasure Park site at Barry Island as soon as possible.

We now need a good operator to come in and deliver on the decaying site.

Whatever has gone on the past in terms of differences, we must now put all this behind and work together in partnership to bring a new leisure facility to Barry Island. We must now deliver to bring in much-needed additional tourists to our seaside town.

I would welcome any new investment to the former pleasure park site as it would help to both bring jobs and growth to the local community.

To date, I am sure all will agree that progress has been slow at this site and people are becoming more and more frustrated at the way the site has been left in its current condition. I therefore now call on the developers, a leisure operator, the Vale Council and the Welsh Government to work together and deliver this jewel in the crown for our town.

For me I would hope to see an all year, all weather complex which would include a cinema, a bowling alley, indoor water park and rides and the sooner the better.
