MY letter to the Barry and District News in August made the point that plagiarism is the wrongful use of someone else's words, thoughts and ideas and representing them as one's own.

Councillor Rob Curtis, Vale of Glamorgan biodiversity champion, had written a letter regarding wildlife reserves in your garden and all of the ten points contained in that letter were taken from the Somerset or Dorset Wildlife Trust websites.

Surprise! Surprise! Councillor Curtis continues with the practice of not giving credit to the original author of the information contained in his latest letter in the Barry and District News, dated November 13 2014, entitled Fairtrade Plans. The body of this latest letter can this time be found on the Fairtrade Wales website. It would be so easy to name the source of the publication instead of leaving the impression with the reader that the words are his own.

I would think that the previous executive officer of Barry Town Council, Mr Derek Wolffe, who has sadly passed away, and who introduced this council's officers and members to Fairtrade some 10 years ago, would be overjoyed with the momentum this has gathered within this council.

Perhaps councillor Curtis will now stop riding on the back of the hard work started by or written by other people!
