THE sky cracked open with a silvery cut
Which painted a corridor of the September sea
As I watched from Barry Harbour
Miles from home on this stormy night.
The hills of England roared,
The sky orange, I watched a cat cower
But I was transfixed by Nature’s power
Superior to the firework display
That takes place annually down the road
For this was the fury of the Gods
With dangerous lightning much brighter
Than the lights from houses or streetlamps
And just before I was about to turn
I wondered if any wrecked boats would burn.
