A REPORT has now come out that Vale of Glamorgan Council employees have amassed an amazing tally of £761,000 in just mileage expenses 2012/2013 when on council business. Baring in mind this, as taxpayer's money, this is a shocking amount. You do have to agree though that when you are on company business you are normally reimbursed for your out of pocket expenses, the question needs to be asked, who on earth keeps a check on this money. There is now to be an evaluation for cost cutting on alternative transport, such as cutting back on a refuse vehicle, and or a mechanical road sweeper, or reducing the street care crew. It is also stated that over 450 council jobs are threatened as the council try to achieve savings of £32million in 36 months. But lo and behold there is no mention of any council officers losing their positions. If there are to be front line services cut, then the people of the Vale should demand that all senior councillors should lose their jobs as well, that includes the ghost CEO, the leader of the council Neil Moore that will save over £47,000 a year, the deputy leaders position should be abolished thus saving £33,000 a year, the mayor and deputy position should also be abolished, along with the official transport. The Vale councillors cannot keep expecting front line staff to lose their jobs while these same councillors sit in their ivory tower that cost us over £250,000, the time is right to say we have now had enough and you must start cutting your lot. But I have just seen a big fat pig fly past my window, do we really think that any Vale Council member will step down, the Vale Council is just like all the rest a complete waste of taxpayers’ money.
